Our Story
CHAPALA is a traditional cocina Mexicana. We have two locations, the taqueria & the restaurant both owned and operated by the Martinez Acevedo family, who emigrated from both the towns of Jalisco and Michoacán. The name CHAPALA was inspired by the largest freshwater lake in Mexico. It borders both the states of Jalisco and Michoacán for it was at this lake that our humble beginnings started.
Here at CHAPALA we are passionate about creating authentic traditional fresh Mexican food. Our food is “sazón para el corazón porque aquí todo se cocina con amor y purita pasión” which translates to “seasoning for the heart because everything here is made from the heart & with pure passion”. From handmade sopes, huaraches, and salsas, to our classic plates; we strive to provide the highest quality food with authenticity. Our mission is to share with the world a small part of our culture through our family’s traditional Mexican recipes.
